Kristina Stiles joins CTM-E, bringing more than 23 years of experience in burns critical care

Kristina is a former burns and plastic surgery nurse specialist with burns critical care background over 23 years. Kristina is currently undertaking a PhD with the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emergency Preparedness and Response at the University of Birmingham, looking to address a Burn Care Gap by developing pre-incident information to help enhance public preparedness and response to major burn incidents. 

Kristina’s main interests are in pre-hospital burn care, burn prevention and education.  Kristina founded the British Burn Association’s Pre-Hospital Special Interest Group, led the development of regional and national burns Clinical Practice Guidelines, created an educational specialist board game “The Burns Game”, co-authored the “Saving Lives is Not Enough” report and “The Family Oops and Burns First Aid” children’s book. Kristina’s research interests include burns first aid, pre-hospital burn care, burns prevention and education, risk communication, novel burn mechanisms, burn hypothermia, remote burn care, and mass casualty burn care.
