A new landmark strategic partnership has been agreed between Counter-Terrorism Medicine Europe (CTM-E) and the British and Irish Tactical Medicine Association (BRITMA). This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of specialised medical response across Continental Europe, the UK, and Ireland. By uniting CTM-E’s expertise in the academic and systemic aspects of disaster management in counter-terrorism medicine with BRITMA’s deep roots in high-threat clinical practice and tactical operations, a unified front has been created to enhance provider safety and patient outcomes during targeted acts of violence and terror-related mass-casualty incidents.
This alliance is built on a shared commitment to excellence, evidence-based practice, and the professionalisation of tactical medicine. The key objectives include knowledge integration, standardisation of training programs, advocacy and joint research initiatives.
The CTM-E and BRITMA partnership is not just a formal agreement; it is an active, evolving collaboration. In the coming months, members can expect combined symposia, resource sharing and joint working groups. The strategic partnership was initiated with the support of Danny Ambler (CEO) and Chris Ritchie (COO) of BRITMA.
By bridging the gap between clinical excellence in the UK and Ireland and the strategic frameworks of mainland Europe, the partnership will ensure that emergency responders and medical professionals have access to the latest resources and facilities to train and prepare as effectively as possible.
Detailed information regarding joint membership benefits and upcoming collaborative events will be released in the coming months.
